Initially, it was a gentlemanly pursuit, committed to unravelling the mysteries of nature and providing unbiased solutions to a wide range of issues, from health to food scarcity. Science was viewed as a source of enlightenment and empowerment. However, this perception changed with the launch of the Manhattan Project, which marked the beginning of its destructive phase and opened the door to political and capitalist exploitation.
